Bike through a versatile terrain with lung-busting ascents and sophisticated downhills. It's all there for you to explore at Lake Weissensee, Carinthia.

Directly from the shores of the cleanest bathing lake of the Alps, 11 mountain bike trails covering a total of 150 km and all levels of difficulty lead you into the surrounding mountains.

triathlon.jpgA real highlight is the technique training site situated at Naggler Alm pasture. Under supervision of the local Schwarzenbacher mountain bike school, you have the possibility of improving your technique or test your skills at your own pace. And if you are looking for a less tiring way of reaching Naggler Alm, opt for the MTB transport chair which is provided for bikers at the Weissensee cable car station and which will take you and your bike to Naggler Alm within 12 minutes, offering stunning views on the way.

A guided tour with fitness trainer Wolfgang, offered every Friday free of charge for guests staying in Weissensee valley, will yield useful tips both for beginners and more advanced hobby athletes. The Schwarzenbacher mountain bike school also has a comprehensive offer for mountain bikers, ranging from guided tours for all levels to technique training sessions, replacement parts and a rental service. If you still want more – go ahead! From Lake Weissensee, you have direct access to another 650km of marked mountain bike trails in the Gitschtal, Gailtal and Lesachtal valleys, with the possibility of crossing the Karnische Alps as far as Italy.

The Mountainbikeführer Weissensee (€ 6,00) and the Bike-Guide Naturarena Kärnten (€ 10,00) contain a comprehensive, detailed overview of the region’s MTB offer.
