Lake Weissensee in Carinthia is definitely among the most stunning diving destinations of the Alps. The visibility range is often as far as 20 metres and there is some dim light even at 50 metres.
The best season for diving is the period between June and October, with September being the ideal month, when the fauna has reached its peak and the water is still warm. Sunken tree trunks not only give Lake Weissensee an idiosyncratic underwater landscape, but also mean that the lake is densely populated with fish – you will meet pikes, gigantic carps, shoals of lake bass, whitefish and lake trout practically everywhere.
The diving base "Easy-Dive Weissensee", located at the Knaller Lido at Techendorf-Süd, boasts state-of-the-art equipment and a range of services that comprises info sessions as well as bottle filling, taster sessions and diving-treks with a raft.
