Get in the saddle and enjoy the idyllic natural setting around Lake Weissensee in Carinthia’s Natural Arena on flat biking trails covering a total of 10km. Themed trails along the lakeshore provide interesting information on native fish and the fishing industry or introduce you to the Weissensee legend “The Kiss of Dawn and the Silver Moon”. The Weissensee bridge at Techendorf is not the only way of getting from the south to the north shore or the other way round. Taking your bike with you, you may also cross over on the scheduled boats provided by the Weissensee boating company.
A special experience is provided by the cycling trails along the rivers in the neighbouring valleys, which also make ideal destinations for longer trips with few ascents. For instance, try the 75 km Drau cycling trail running from Lienz in the East Tyrol to Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia. The Karnische cycling trail "R3" meanders over 85km along the Gail river, leading from Kötschach-Mauthen to Villach. And in the Mölltal valley, there is the 75 km Möll cycling trail leading from Winkler to Möllbrücke. There are plenty of cosy inns serving food and drink along the trails and many interesting sites to visit. All destinations can be easily reached by car or public transport. Bicycle rental facilities are situated at all starting points. |
