For more than 50 years, our senior manager has been baking the renowned Lesachtal bread in our hotel, known far beyond the valley borders. This art of bread baking has now been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage, as it involves baking bread from fine natural sourdough, locally sourced flour, and water using ancient recipes. No one does it better than Rosa Lanner, who also teaches amateur bakers the proper kneading techniques. She gladly shares her knowledge about starting sourdough, selecting the right spices, and various interesting facts about the history of bread baking. The young bakers can take their homemade bread home, along with the recipe and bread flour.
