The historic monastery garden of Maria Luggau has been newly laid out according to conservation guidelines and is oriented in its planting according to the principles of Traditional European Medicine (TEM). The garden combines historical garden architecture with medicinal plant culture.
During the approximately one-hour tour, we will cover aspects of garden history as well as monastery medicine and Traditional European Medicine. Using the plant life of the garden, we will draw a historical arc of medicine – from Hippocrates to Hildegard of Bingen to the present.
