„Santonino“ Theater im Schlosshof

Play by Engelbert Obernosterer. An event of the theater groups of the valley.

The piece is a depiction of the late Middle Ages, based on the records of Paolo Santonino, the secular companion of Bishop Pietro of Caorle, who makes a journey in 1485 from Aquileia to the areas of the Gail and Drava valleys afflicted by the Turks, to re-consecrate the devastated churches, to give confirmations, and to visit the clergy. At the core is the still relevant theme: violence by and against people, especially against women. Engelbert Obernosterer: “I have tried to present the most important features of that turning point through a possible dramatic story.”
