SNOW RUGBY is the extreme winter version of beach rugby. It is played on a field of the same size and with the same rules. The most important rule is the 2-second rule, which makes the game extremely fast and spectacular. What is most appealing about this reduced and faster mode of rugby compared to the 15-player version is the greater number of goals that can be scored during a match lasting only 10 minutes.
It was in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where beach rugby was also born, that a group of rugby fans came up with the idea of swapping sand for snow! That's right... we are talking about snow and SNOW 5S RUGBY! The famous winter resort of Tarvisio, located in the mountains of Friuli Venezia Giulia, on the border with Austria and Slovenia, has been hosting Italy's first official Snow 5s Rugby every year since 2013.
