GEFÜHRTE WANDERUNGEN
THE STROTTERN & BLECH
Klemens Lendl, violin, vocals | David Müller, guitar, harmonium, vocals | Martin Eberle, trumpet, flugelhorn | Martin Ptak, trombone, harmonium
The Viennese song lives on. And how! As a distinctive expression of a way of life, as the musical DNA of a cultural world capital. The Strottern are not entirely innocent in this: for 30 years, Klemens Lendl and David Müller have been musically and thematically dusting off the Viennese song so thoroughly that from a local song tradition, a seemingly infinite musical cosmos has emerged that is understood everywhere. The Strottern have made the Viennese song their own, as an ideal vehicle for attitude, humor, and sentiment when they sing about the great emotions in small moments, about wonderful failures and moving on.
The Strottern already conquered the hearts of the VIA audience in 2020. This time, they honor us as a quartet: in their deluxe lineup “with brass” (Martin Eberle, trumpet, and Martin Ptak, trombone, and harmonium). Christian Seiler described this arrangement best: “They (Eberle and Ptak) infuse the songs with a musical, sensual dimension and, from the background, complete the amazing songs, laments, and confessions with a blue power.”
